£99 short-break tours to see new Princess Diana exhibition

Princess Diana

Royal fans always now look to the Duchess of Cambridge for a touch of regal style, as shown at last night’s BAFTA’s. But, of course, it was Princess Diana who held the crown for being the best-dressed Royal – possibly the best-dressed ever.

And now there’s the chance to see her styles from the first demure, romantic outfits to the glamorous, sexy clothes she wore later. Diana: Her Fashion Story opens at London’s Kensington Palace, together with a temporary garden planted with flowers and foliage to reflect the Princess’s life, image and style, on February 24.

The exhibition will showcase an extensive collection of garments which made Diana an icon within the fashion world and hand-drawn sketches from designers such as Catherine Walker.

Eleri Lynn, curator of Diana: Her Fashion Story, said: “Diana, Princess of Wales, was one of the most photographed women in the world, and every fashion choice she made was closely scrutinised. Our exhibition explores the story of a young woman who had to quickly learn the rules of royal and diplomatic dressing, who in the process put the spotlight on the British fashion industry and designers.

“We see her growing in confidence throughout her life, increasingly taking control of how she was represented, and intelligently communicating through her clothes. This is a story many women around the world can relate to, and we hope many visitors will join us, to get a closer look at some of Diana’s most iconic outfits, on display in her former home.”

National Holidays, specialists in short breaks and holidays by coach, has launched a new short break to see the exhibition.

The two-day breaks, which start from £99 per person and are available from March to August, include a trip to the exhibition, coach travel, one night dinner, bed and breakfast, as well free time to explore the capital’s sights.
