British travellers are taking more luxury holidays, according to data from one holiday firm.

Away Holidays has seen a 31 per cent increase of sales to luxury destinations over the last year, with February showing a massive rise of 65 per cent.

The increase in luxury holidays sales have continued throughout the year with bookings up 25 per cent in June.

According to the company, the British holidaymaker has become increasingly adventurous over the past years, with people heading to far away shores for their traditional two-week holiday in the sun, and this year the Maldives (pictured) is the most popular luxury destination, with Brits heading to the Indian Ocean in their droves.

Resorts across Thailand make this ever-popular country the second most popular destination for luxury-loving Brits, followed by the UAE and the USA, with India completing the top five list of the most popular luxury destinations for 2015.

Other luxury destinations growing in popularity this year include Oman, once the Middle East’s best-kept secret, the Seychelles, a destination once regarded as a destination for only honeymooner’s and the incredible city of Hong Kong.
