Dubai is a leading long-haul destination for 2015

British travellers are looking to long-haul holidays in 2015 according to one travel company.

Long-haul specialist Southall Travel has seen a 30 per cent increase in bookings this year compared to last, with March being the biggest month for bookings to date, with sales up 37 per cent on last year. The trend has continued with a 25 per cent increase in June. 

Research conducted by Southall Travel, which sends more than 700,000 customers away each year found that this year, Dubai is the most popular destination for long-haul loving Brits, up 28 per cent on the previous year, with Thailand the second most popular, up 16 per cent.

The Maldives is the third destination of choice this year (up 4 per cent), with the USA (up 52 per cent) and India (up 41 per cent) completing the list of the top five most popular long-haul destinations for 2015 so far..

While all-inclusive holidays are the most popular holiday type for short-haul holidays, almost half (48 per cent) of those heading further afield tend to favour bed and breakfast. The research found that only one in 10 holidaymakers heading long-haul opt for all-inclusive holidays.

Kuljinder Bahia, Managing Director at Southall Travel commented: “Our bookings show that 2015 is set to be a bumper year for long-haul holidays with many of our destinations outselling previous years. The research also suggests that British holidaymakers are becoming more adventurous with their travels and are looking to explore new destinations outside of Europe.”
