Theme parks are opening their doors ready for the new season. Drayton Manor in Staffordshire is offering families an action-packed day out at a special price during the Easter holidays. Between Friday March 29 and Sunday April 14, all pre-booked adult tickets (ages 12+) will cost £20 and child tickets (ages 4 – 11) £13. Ticket prices for 2-3 year olds have been halved and will cost £2.50, while under 2s go free. Car parking is just £2 instead of £3 too.

And as an extra Easter treat, any potential April showers needn’t be a problem for those planning a day out at the park, as it will be operating its rainy day guarantee. Visitors who have pre-booked tickets will get a free return trip if it rains continuously for a minimum of one hour during their time at the park.

CEO Colin Bryan said: “Easter is the first real break of the year and the first chance most families have to get away and spend some quality time together. We wanted to offer something extra and ensure families get a value for money day out. We all know the British weather can’t be relied upon, which is why we’ve reinstated our rainy day guarantee.”

New for the 2013 season is A Fish Story (above), an underwater musical adventure film, which will be screened in the park’s 4D Cinema. It tells the tale of Deepo, an orange Garibaldi fish, and Billy, a trainee at the aquarium who magically turns into a fish, who journey to the depths of the ocean, encountering many different sea creatures along the way and is sure to be a big hit with younger visitors.

The park is also home to Europe’s only Thomas Land (above), celebrating its fifth anniversary and a new Thomas & Friends ride will be unveiled in the summer to mark the occasion.

Ben 10 fans can enjoy a ride on Ben 10: Ultimate Mission coaster and for thrill seekers there’s adrenaline-inducing Apocalypse, voted UK’s scariest ride by Channel Five’s The Gadget Show, stomach-churning Maelstrom and stand-up coaster classic, Shockwave.

Those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground can enjoy a stroll around the park’s 15-acre zoo, home to big cats, apes, primates, birds and insects. There’s also Dino Trail, designed to intrigue and educate visitors about the prehistoric reptiles.
