Drive in Oz like TV Top Gear team

TV’s Top Gear team heads for Australia this weekend. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will be seen on a road trip through the Northern territory on their first adventure down under.

The team are tasked with each picking up a luxurious GT, to drive across the Northern Territory’s majestic scenery. The trip finishes with a challenge involving a farm, their cars and 4,000 cows!

Darwin is the Northern Territory’s vibrant capital, and is a city with both Asian and western influences. From the waterfalls of Litchfield Park to the wetlands of Kakadu, through to the Red Centre’s outback desert where Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) can be found. There’s lots of wildlife too with a chance to spot anything from dingoes to reptiles.

If you fancy doing a road trip like Clarkson, albeit a bit slower, here’s how:

Austravel is offering an eight-day Darwin self-drive with prices from £1,679 per person, and savings of £100 per couple. Departing in June, it includes a two-night stay at the three-star Doubletree by Hilton in Darwin followed by a six-day ‘Top End Discovery’ self-drive which includes stops in Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield. Return flights with Malaysia Airlines are also included.
