Easter getaway bookings are booming

It doesn’t look as if there is going to be an Easter heatwave so Brits are heading to sunspots abroad. Late bookings for an Easter getaway have surged by 28 per cent compared to last year, says lowcostholidays.

The Canary Isles – Lanzarote and Tenerife – and Egyptian resort Sharm El Sheikh are the most popular choice offering guaranteed sun and a wide choice of accommodation to suit all holidaymakers.

City breaks are also big sellers over Easter with sales up over 36% compared to last year.  Amsterdam, Barcelona, Rome and Paris are the top destinations for a short cultural break.

Many European holiday destinations are cheaper than last year due to the strong pound against the euro making hotel prices, meals and drinks cheaper.

Cheaper holidays has also led to an increase in five-star hotels being booked as these have also decreased in price with bookings up 20% year on year.

Tim Buckman of lowcostholidays said, “Bookings for this Easter are up compared to last year with British holidaymakers travelling with lowcostholidays to find some warmth and sunshine.  There is not much left in terms of flight capacity over the Easter weekend but a few great deals can still be found however these are selling quickly.”

Latest offers include a seven-night holiday in Lanzarote at a four-star hotel from £410 per person including flights from Birmingham on April 5 for two adults and a three-night city break in Paris at a four-star hotel for two adults with flights from Luton on April 5 from £185 per person.
