easyJet is five-star winner

Five-star hotels are not just for the rich and famous. With city breaks including a luxury hotel and flights on offer for under £150, bookings are understandably soaring. easyJet Holidays has seen a rise of nearly a quarter in bookings for five-star city breaks with some destinations enjoying an increase of more than double.

Nearly three quarters of city break bookings are for a four or five-star hotel. Marrakech, Prague and Amsterdam are topping the poll as the most popular destinations for those looking for luxury. But Rome, Berlin and Barcelona are hot on their heels and seeing some of the biggest year on year increases. Rome has seen a massive jump of more than 200 per cent in bookings for five-star hotels.

Mandy Round, general manager of easyJet Holidays said: “Despite financial pressures at home, holidays are more important than ever. If customers are able to escape real life and pamper themselves in a luxury hotel for a few days – but still get value for money – then they are prepared to do that.”
