First review of Shrek’s Adventure! London

first review of Shrek’s Adventure! London

A Shrek-tacular Day Out – we got Oli Harbord to head along to the Southbank for the first review of Shrek’s Adventure! London that opens on July 1.

I was ogre-excited to travel to Far Far Away today at the opening at Shrek’s Adventure! London.

Southbank’s newest attraction immerses guests in one of Dreamwork’s most popular creations – Shrek – and offers up close up interactions with your favourite characters from the film.

Our Shrek-tacular day began with a 4D red bus ride through London, driven by the one and only Donkey, which was sure to provide havoc from the start.

Once we were on our way to Far Far Away, the evil Rumpelstiltskin’s witches causes our bus to crash, starting our quest to find Shrek and explore some of the great locations from the Shrek stories.

As we made our way through Far Far Away we were greeted by some of our favourite characters; Princess Fiona, Gingy the Gingerbread Man and Pinocchio all helped us through our adventure.

Be sure to stick together during the Magic Mirror Maze. If you’re anything like me and my friends, you’ll spend an age trying to make it to the next scene, only to find yourself wandering back to where you came from and questioning how the younger members of the expedition got to the next scene so quickly! If only we had a Magic Mirror to help us get out.

An encounter with Shrek’s toilet at his swamp, a tasty meeting with the muffin man and an interactive game show, putting us at the centre of the action all made for a Shrek-tastic day out.

The cast are brilliant and do everything they can to make this a memorable experience for the family.

The younger children of each group are given certain tasks throughout the adventure to help us back to London and of course, they were happy to help.

Perfect for all ages, with children aged from six-years-old to (in our case) the ripe old age of 27, we were all having as much fun as each other. The tour caters brilliantly for all members of the family, the same reason that the films have proven so popular.

Clare Leckie, one of the members of our enthralled group, said: “We had a brilliant time throughout our Shrek’s Adventure! London experience.

“All the cast were really enthusiastic as we went through our tour and we had plenty of laughs as a group.”

After the adventure, there’s more fun to be had in the Arrivals Hall with meet and greets with other DreamWorks pals including King Louis of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.

The mischievous Penguins of Madagascar are up to their no good tricks and we were able to test our martial arts skills with Kung Fu Panda’s Po or marvel at Toothless in full flight as Hiccup rides his spectacular dragon overhead.

A fantastic day out for the entire family – get your tickets booked soon for the summer and experience your very own Happy Ever After.
