TV’s Doc Martin is back on our screens on Monday at 9pm and we at Your-Hols are big fans! Follow in his footsteps by visiting the Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac where the hit series was filmed. Doc, played by Martin Clunes, has his surgery in the fictional Portwenn but you can stay in the real location with its narrow winding streets, whitewashed cottages and traditional granite, slate-fronted houses.

Cornish Cottages has a selection of properties in and around the village, some of which have been newly added for 2013 including 5 Castle Rock – a luxurious four-bedroom, four bathroom property n Port Isaac, just five minutes’ walk from the harbour and boasting superb views over Port Gaverne and the coast towards Tintagel.

Sleeping up to eight, the property is set over three storeys with the main open plan living area and enclosed balcony on the first floor to take advantage of the extensive ocean views. There’s also a private enclosed patio area at the rear and the property benefits from underfloor heating throughout. A week’s rental between November and March – excluding the festive season – costs £461.

Another addition is Harbour Lights – a recently renovated, detached three bedroom, two bathroom family home sleeping six which is just 800 metres from the coast and enjoys wonderful views over Port Isaac, its harbour and out to sea. The property has a large garden laid mainly to lawn, patio area with garden furniture and space to store bikes, surf boards and wet suits in the lean-to shed. Seven nights’ rental between November and March – excluding the festive season – cost £495.

Both cottages are within easy reach of superb coastal and countryside walks, plus Rock and Padstow are a short car journey away, while in the opposite direction Tintagel is home to the legendary castle of King Arthur.
