Get ready for the Sark sheep racing festival

Sark sheep racing festival

Stuck for something unusual to do this summer? Try the Sark sheep racing festival.

The festival takes place on the tiny Channel Island from July 17-19 and offers Ascot and Newmarket days that are jam-packed with sheep racing.

The Sheep Racing weekend assumes the character of a prestigious race meeting.  In between the races, punters place bets with ‘Dodgy Dave’ or retire to the Baa for a consolation drink.

There are six races per da,y each featuring six runners. Local businesses sponsor the races and take temporary ownership of the sheep, conjuring up witty race and sheep names. As well as sheep racing, the festival features a variety of stalls and a children’s play area.

Three nights on Guernsey starts from £349 per person, including a day trip to Sark for the festival. The cost includes return flights from Gatwick and accommodation at the 3* La Villette Hotel.
