This could be the perfect job for someone willing to take the plunge – holiday company First Choice is looking for someone to take on the challenge of becoming a water slide tester at its SplashWorld resorts.
The nationwide search for someone to get wet for a living comes on the back of a poll by the company that shows that half of Brits wish their job was more exciting, while 37 per cent of us are thinking of applying for new jobs in the new year.
Previous Slide Tester Tommy has hung up his swimming shorts after doing the job for four years, so a passionate and enthusiastic new recruit is needed to judge the flumes, slides and pools at SplashWorld resorts for summer 2013.
The Slide Tester will travel to sunny countries to test out the facilities at the company’s 20 Splash World resorts and aspiring testers need to upload a video to the First Choice site – pitches should last 30 seconds – the average time it takes to ride one of the rides. They will then have to face a panel of expert judges at a SplashWorld overseas.
Five of the best will head off in April to battle for the job and the successful applicant will be given a six-month contract where they will get to test the slides and flumes at SplashWorld water parks in destinations including Majorca, Turkey and Egypt. In addition to a salary of £20,000 per annum (pro rata), all overseas travel expenses will be paid and the successful applicant will be given a seven night holiday for two staying at a First Choice All-Inclusive resort at the end of the six months.
