Great deals to celebrate Ferry Fortnight

Irish ferries

National Ferry Fortnight is back and is bigger and better with fantastic offers to Britain’s islands, mainland Europe, Ireland and Scandinavia. Deals from members of the Passenger Shipping Association, running until March 16, include kids go free, discounts on cottage holidays in Ireland and up to 40 per cent off Amsterdam mini-cruises. See the full list of offers on www.discoverferries.com

You can also compare ferry prices, timings etc, on the one-stop booking site www.aferry.co.uk which lists the Ferry Fortnight offers including Calais and Dunkerque from £11 with DFDS Seaways, Dover Calais 10-day returns from £50 with P&O and Newcastle to Amsterdam from £55 per person. Also, if you travel on a day sailing to France this summer aferry.co.uk give you lots of free extras.

Irish Ferries are offering free places for all children under 16 on all crossings this year, for bookings made by March 19. “The bigger your family, the more you save: £30 per child on a return journey,” says Dermot Merrigan, head of passenger sales for Irish Ferries. “The offer is for the whole of this season, including Easter and half-terms, as well as July and August peak season – right through to December 20. But you must book by the end of the day on March 19, a deadline we’ve extended past the official National Ferry Fortnight dates to make allowances for our St Patrick’s Day celebrations!”

Irish Ferries fares start at £79 one-way for a car and driver with additional adults from £28 each way. There’s also savings of 10% or 15% on holiday cottages booked as part of a self-drive package, for seven night stays (or longer) taken before August 31.
