This year sees a number of new cruise ship launches, all looking to outdo the other. Your Hols teamed up with Cruise Critic editor Adam Coulter to highlight the great new bars on great new ships.
Koningsdam BLEND by Chateau Ste. Michelle
Wine lovers rejoice, BLEND onboard Holland America Line’s April launch, Koningsdam, has been formed in collaboration with Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington State’s oldest and most acclaimed winery. The wine-blending room hosts up to 10 passengers, and guests can learn about and taste wine prior to mixing up to five varieties to create a personalised blend. Bottles can then be enjoyed at dinner or in passengers’ cabins.
Carnival Vista RedFrog Pub
This venue is a first for the Carnival line. Along with a variety of ales and beers available on tap, it will offer its own signature private-label draft beer, ThirstyFrog Red. Cruisers also have the opportunity to enjoy brewery tours and tastings. The full bar offers indoor and outdoor seating, and those who aren’t partial to a beer can enjoy Caribbean-inspired cocktails from the Red Frog Rum Bar.
Carnival Vista Havana Bar & Pool
For those who like a taste of the tropics, the Havana Bar & Pool offers Cuban cocktails & snacks during the day, and transforms into a Latin-themed nightclub in the evening.
Harmony of the Seas Rising Tide Bar
The Rising Tide Bar will feature on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas when it launches in May 2016. Cruisers can step inside the bar as it ascends and descends over three decks from the promenade and through Central Park. Images of the bar onboard sister ship Oasis of the Seas can be viewed here.
Harmony of the Seas Sabor Taqueria & Tequila Bar
Fusing restaurant and bar, this venue is perfect for those who love the Mexican vibe, with tequila flights and margaritas prepared tableside!
Harmony of the Seas Bionic Bar
The line’s Anthem of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas both feature the famous Bionic Bar. Here, cruisers can order the drinks via iPads and wait while robotic arms mix them, all while electronic music plays!
Viking Sea Explorers’ Lounge
The two-deck observatory is a prime spot to enjoy a drink while taking in the breathtaking scenery. It hosts a “Craft Beer Library”, and there’s even a small al fresco area. Inside, there’s a cozy space complete with a water vapour-lit fireplace. At night, travellers can sip a tipple while gazing at the constellations that light up along the walls. Complimentary wine and beer is also served with lunch and dinner.
