Greek hotels have topped a poll of the best in the Med according to a new study.

With the summer holidays drawing closer and people packing their cases, a mammoth study by a hotel comparison site has ranked Hellenic hotels at the top based on their ‘customer reputation’.

The study by  www.trivago.co.uk calculated scores from more than 34 million user ratings and reviews compiled from over 160 booking sites. Included in the ranking are destinations with more than 5,000 aggregated reviews.

According to the poll, the Top 20 Mediterranean beach destinations were topped by the Greek islands of Santorini (above) and Crete, with Santorini’s Imerovigli and Fira occupying the top two spots, followed by Crete’s Chania and Rethymnon in positions four and five.
