Head to New York, Made in Chelsea-style

When it comes to choice of holiday, it seems we’re influenced by what we see on TV. British Airways claims there was a huge increase in searches for New York holidays after an episode of Made In Chelsea filmed there was shown on Sunday night.

According to the airline, Made In Chelsea in New York, which aired on E4 at 9pm, saw a spike in interest in New York both during the show and in the hour after broadcast.

The top five recent notable interest spikes in destinations are:

  1. Made in Chelsea in New York – New York
  2. Operation Wild with Claire Balding – China and Chengdu
  3. The Trip to Italy with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon – Italy
  4. Mad Men – New York
  5. Benidorm – Spain and Alicante

Claire Bentley of  British Airways Holidays says: “We often see a rise in the number of people searching for holidays to a particular destination after a world event or a high-profile Royal visit, but it’s fascinating to see how many people really do seem to be influenced by what they watch on TV.

“Some people then purchase holidays, others will simply be searching for inspiration for their next trip away. Recently we’ve been surprised and entertained by the number of customers who have asked for holidays at ‘The Solana’ in Benidorm.”
