Staying at a Hilton hotel soon? If so, you’ll be able to check-in, choose your room and open the door – all on your smartphone.
Sounds great, especially when you want to let in room-service without getting out of bed!
Hilton has just launched Digital Key in 10 hotels throughout the UK, including the Hilton London Tower Bridge, and the industry-leading technology will be in 100 by the end of the year and in all 2,500 properties around the world by the middle of next year.
And it’s very clever – having tested it at the Tower Bridge hotel last night. After downloading the Hilton Honors app, choosing a room after studying the hotel layout, you can just use the digital key to open your door and any other area of the hotel that requires a key.
Geraldine Calpin, Chief Marketing Officer for Hilton, said: “We know our guests are looking for more choice and control over their entire travel journey and through digital tools such as Digital Key and digital check-in with room selection, we are giving guests the ability to personalise their stay at every stage, wherever they are in the world.”
The Digital Key is activated the day before guests arrive and once their room is ready, they will receive a notification via the app and then have the key activated at reception.
