Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is open

Christmas has arrived at London’s Hyde Park. Winter Wonderland opened tonight with an amazing new attraction, The Magical Ice Kingdom – more than 500 spectacular ice and snow sculptures. They have been created by 20 sculptors from 200 tons of ice and snow over the past four months.

Visitors to the festive spectacular, open until January 6, will follow magical pathways into themed rooms featuring woodland ice creatures, a fairytale unicorn-pulled carriage, castle, dragon’s lair and the Ice Queen in her throne room.

Jamie Wells, of events organisers PWR, said: “This is a unique ice sculpture experience in the UK and we are thrilled to be able to create such an attraction. In a year where the Britain has been celebrated across the world, we continue this by offering the best Christmas day out in London.”

The Magical Ice Kingdom is housed inside a huge winter palace, chilled to -8C to keep the sculptures frozen. Other attractions include the UK’s largest outdoor Ice Rink, around the picturesque setting of the historic Victorian bandstand, the Giant Observation Wheel, Angels Christmas Market and new Yuletide Market and Santa Land for younger visitors. Zippos Circus is also back with a thrilling new show, Cirque Berserk – with motorbikes, knife-throwing, fire, quad bikes, ultimate High Wire and much much more!

The Bavarian Village will serve bratwurst and mulled wine and host live music. There’s also bars, restaurants and rides. Entry to Winter Wonderland, open from 10am until 10pm every day apart from Christmas Day, is free. To book for the major attractions see www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com
