Ibis Styles opens new Heathrow airport hotel

Ooh, this looks better than your boring, old-fashioned business hotel. ibis Styles has opened a cool, quirky, modern hotel at Heathrow airport.

It’s heavy on design and the 140-room hotel has lots of “flying” features. The reception is crafted to look like the wing of a plane when in flight, LED lighting illuminates the carpets guiding guests to their rooms and bedside cabinets resemble hostess trolleys!

And say ibis, because they understand that travelling can be demanding and tiresome, the new hotel has a team of stewards to ensure that stress is eliminated as soon as guests walk through the door. There’s also a quick check-in service, so no hanging around like in an airport queue.

Humorous artwork of skydivers and astronauts line the rooms, as well as an eclectic mix of Da Vinci prints, which add to the quirky character.

The hotel restaurant is open until 11pm but guests can order small dishes 24 hours a day. The bar shuts at 1am. Breakfast starts at 6.30am but if you are catching an early flight, don’t worry, you can eat from 4am.

What’s all important is a good night’s sleep, even if only for a few hours. And having stayed in ibis Styles’ hotels before, their Sweet Bed is pretty sweet. And, at this hotel, they’ll all be new, so even better.

There looks to be a quote from Yoko Ono on the ceiling too… we’ll find out when our reviewer spends the night there. Watch this air space!
