Sign up for Halloween fright walks

Halloween

Prepare to be scared on a Halloween forest walk at night! The first Halloween charity walks through ancient forests, haunted monastery ruins and across cemeteries are being organised by Global Adventure Challenges on the evenings of October 26 in Epping Forest and November 2 in Sherwood Forest.

You can sign up for the 30km route as an individual or part of a team to raise money for a favourite charity.

Epping Forest has a large church, surrounding cemetery and the legendary ‘Hangman’s Hill’ – where it is said criminals and convicts were hanged. Keen-eyed walkers, starting from Bury Road car park between Chingford Golf Course and Royal Epping Forest Golf Club) may even see the ghost of Dick Turpin, the infamous highwayman. The route across Sherwood Forest from Old Clipstone takes in its crumbling, haunted monastery ruins and spooky, medieval legends.

Organiser, charity challenge tour operator Global Adventure Challenges, has devised the event not only to meet increasing demand for endurance challenges but to support regional charities.

Peter Robinson, Director of Events and co-founder of Global Adventure Challenges said: “Fright Hike has been designed to bring an element of fun to what is a real challenge. It is achievable by anyone as long as you prepare and train beforehand.”

To sign up to the challenge costs £39 per person to register, plus £39 for the self-funding option or £39 to register, plus £160 for minimum sponsorship. For more details and to book visit www.fright-hike.com
