London’s Dukes celebrates Bond anniversary

With the 50th anniversary of super spy James Bond upon us and latest flick Skyfall about to hit the big screen, yet another London hotel has launched luxury Bond packages.

This time though, the hotel does have a claim to 007s legacy, for the Dukes Bar in the Dukes Hotel St James’s is where Ian Fleming wrote the immortal line ‘shaken not stirred’.

Guests at the hotel will be able to embrace their inner secret agent and sample a taste of their favourite character’s love for luxury, martinis and fast cars with the ‘DUKES Bond Experience’.

Staying in a Junior Suite, guests will be treated to accommodation suitable for the man himself with a spacious double bedroom, marble ensuite bathroom and separate sitting area, ideal for relaxing with a copy of their favourite Bond novel.Come nightfall, guests can dust off their tuxedos and cocktail dresses and head downstairs to the DUKES Bar for a ‘Vesper Martini’; a cocktail named by Bond in the 1953 novel Casino Royal and re-created for the hotel by head barman Alessandro Palazzi using No. 3 gin and Patocki vodka. Following this, guests will be led to the hotel’s restaurant Thirty Six By Nigel Mendham where they will enjoy an exquisite three course meal.

If guests are not truly in the Bond sprit by now, a trip to the famous Leister Square theatre to see the man in action on the full screen in the highly anticipated movie ‘Skyfall’ will no doubt finish guests’ evening with an action filled Bond Style shoot out bang! (Available over screening dates from 26th October 2012).

For die hard bond fans, the hotel has also created an extra special two night ‘Ultimate Bond Experience’ offering guests the opportunity to drive in a fleet of classic cars as famous as the man himself with models such as a 1966 MGB Roadster, 1968 Jaguar E Type and 1970 Porche 911 available.

Guests will be led on a Bond themed tour of London and surrounding areas stopping for a delicious three course lunch at the very location where the famous golf match between Auric Goldfinger and James Bond took place in the 1964 film starring Sean Connery. Guests will also still receive a vesper martini in the DUKES Bar, three course meal at Thirty Six by Nigel Mendham and a ‘Skyfall’ cinema ticket, in addition to two nights accommodation in an exquisite deluxe suite with the Ultimate DUKES Bond Experience.

The DUKES Bond Experience is priced at £1030 per person, while the Ultimate DUKES Bond Experience is priced at £3,395 per person per night (2 night minimum stay). Packages are available from 18th September until 13th January 2013.
