Male workers book hotels – just in case they pull

IF you’re a single female headed for the office party this week, then watch out – it could be that one of your male colleagues has booked a hotel room in advance, just in case they pull you.

Research from hotels.com shows that one in ten male office workers has booked a hotel in anticipation of hooking up with a colleague – the kind of move you might expect from Bridget Jones lothario Daniel Cleaver (above). In contrast, only five per cent of women have done the same thing.

The research also revealed 61 per cent of UK office workers have a crush on a co-worker and, when questioned if they’d act on this at a Christmas party scenario, over a quarter (26 per cent) said yes, that booze would give them the confidence to try their luck.

Of those who wouldn’t make a move, 42 per cent claimed that the potential embarrassment or rumours afterwards put them off and 17 per cent were scared of the rejection. A further 13 per cent would do, but didn’t want the walk of shame home after!

The survey – ever so coincidentally of course – comes on the back of the hotel booking website offering workers a code to give them a 10 per cent discount on last-minute bookings if they want a post-office party place to crash. To get the discount, you need to download their app and use the code MOBPARTY.
