New bite into Big Apple

Virgin Atlantic has added a sixth daily service from Heathrow to New York. From October 28, four planes will now fly into JFK with two into Newark. Chief executive Steve Ridgway said: “New York has always been important to Virgin Atlantic – it’s where it all started with our first flight from London to Newark in 1984, and last year we carried more than half a million passengers between Heathrow and JFK .”

Model Kate Moss helped Sir Richard Branson celebrate the airline’s 25th anniversary three years ago by joining him on the wing of a plane set to fly to the Big Apple (above).

The new flight leaves Heathrow Terminal 3 at 19:25, arriving into New York at 23:40 local time. The return departs JFK Terminal 4 at 07:40, arriving back into London at 19:40 local time. Return economy fares from £518, Premium £836 and Upper Class £2,494. See www.virginatlantic.com or call 0844 2092 770.

The schedule of the new service will give connecting passengers greater flexibility, with timings to give a seamless connection onto other Virgin routes including Delhi, Dubai, and many of its African destinations.
