Rebecca Adlington swims in the Caribbean

Olympic champ Rebecca Adlington is this week swimming in the Caribbean. The gold medalist is flying the flag for Britain on beautiful Palm Island – launching her free swim workshops even though she has admitted in the past that she is quite terrified of the SEA. But she’d no need to worry, she wasn’t going too far out in the ocean… the resort created a sea pool with lanes stretching from the sands and she showed off some of her strokes in a lagoon (above)!

Becky, 24, was invited to teach guests at the exclusive 135-acre private island resort in the Grenadines about the health and therapeutic benefits of sea swimming. Not a bad place to be, Becky! She said: “Swimming is my life and what better place to share how it has made an impact on my life than on a stunning private island and turquoise waters.”

The workshops for beginners and experienced swimmers – two to three hours each morning for four days – are part of the resort’s new Detox programme.

Virgin Holidays offers the all-inclusive seven-night “SwimFit Palm Island with Becky Adlington” from £2,099 per person including flights from Gatwick. Another week is planned for May 4-7 2014.
