Royal Princess sails back to ITV’s The Cruise

The Cruise

ITV’s The Cruise is back. The second series of a six-part documentary set on board a Princess Cruises’ ship starts on Thursday, January 12 at 8.30pm.

The Cruise reveals what life is like for crew and guests on the 3,560-guest Royal Princess, launched three years ago in Southampton by the Duchess of Cambridge.

The new series was filmed in the Mediterranean this summer and Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville, who did the voiceover for the first, is back too.

Each episode will give viewers an insight into the day-to-day roles of the 1,400 worldwide crew. Viewers will see how the team works together to keep the Royal Princess running smoothly including navigating the 141,000-tonne, 19-deck ship, preparing over 20,000 meals a day and servicing 1,800 cabins.

As well as catching up with familiar faces from series one, viewers will also get to meet new crew members.

Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises’ vice president UK and Europe, said: “Following on from the success of series one, which averaged 3.5 million viewers and has received a National Television Award nomination, we are excited to see what series two has in store for Royal Princess’ crew and guests.”

Alicia Kerr, executive producer of the production team Wild Pictures, said: “We are delighted with the access Princess Cruises granted us to Royal Princess and can promise viewers a rich mix of compelling new stories.”
