See Visit York’s guide to the city by Yorkie the DOG!

Visit York

Well it’s different… a guide to York presented by a DOG, funnily enough called Yorkie!

Visit York has today (National Dog Day) released its new three-part film series which follows Yorkie as he showcases the city and North Yorkshire.

Take a look here at the first film titled “Yorkie’s City Adventure” which sees him stay at the historic Mount Royale Hotel, where well behaved pooches are welcome.

You can watch him strolling along the twisting, narrow lane of one of the best preserved medieval streets in Europe, Shambles, and meeting Vikings from the site of one of the most astounding discoveries of modern archaeology, at the Jorvik on Tour Exhibition.

The travelogue series has been launched in partnership with City of York Council, North Yorkshire County Council and Virgin Trains to celebrate Visit York’s ‘York – the Original City Adventure’ tourism campaign aimed at encouraging visitors to plan their very own adventures in York and North Yorkshire.

Kate McMullen, Head of Tourism, Make It York, said: “Over 4,000 people have viewed our trailer of Yorkie and we hope viewers will really enjoy watching our lovable Yorkie in Episode 1.

“From world-class attractions like York Minster to designer shopping at York Designer Outlet, from stunning national parks to a brilliant festival scene, there’s an adventure awaiting everyone here in York and North Yorkshire.”
