If you’ve been suffering from cold turkey, take a deep breath … it looks like Sex and the City 3 is to film in Greece.
According to reports in the Greek media, location scouts from the film have been scouring the country for places to film the third instalment in the movie series inspired by the popular TV show.
According to the reports, filming will begin in September 2014 or May 2015, with Messenia in south-western Peloponnese rising as the most likely location to shoot the new instalment.
Additional filming could take place in Mykonos, with Sarah Jessica Parker saying in the past that if there was another movie she would love it if it took place on the cosmopolitan party island.
In May, she admitted that a third Sex and the City could be made as “there is one story left to tell”, adding that if the time and place were right “maybe we should tell it.”
The rumours were further fuelled after the actress spent most part of August travelling around the Greek islands on a private luxury yacht.
Although the reports have not been confirmed or denied yet, if the famous foursome of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda reunite for a new film it will be the second time in recent years that Messenia has played host to a long-awaited sequel: Before Midnight, the romantic drama starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, was shot in the luxury resort of Costa Navarino in 2012.
Other Hollywood productions filmed in recent years in Greece include Mamma Mia! (Skiathos, Skopelos), Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (Cephalonia), The Bourne Identity (Mykonos) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (Santorini), while Keeping up with the Kardashians shot three episodes in the Greek islands earlier in 2013.
