Snowdonia becomes zipline capital of the world

zipline capital of the world

Snowdonia, Wales’ action-packed mountain region is about to become the zipline capital of the world.

A new zipline, Zip World Titan in Llechwedd, is set to open next month, meaning the national park will become the largest zip zone in the world, with daredevils able to fly along 8km of line reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. What’s more, the attraction will give up to four family members or friends the chance to ride at the same time – the only multi-zip experience in the world.

The new attraction joins Zip World Velocity at Penryhn Quarry, home to the longest zip line in the Northern Hemisphere with rides over 100 miles per hour along a pair of mile-long lines. The two attractions are just a 40-minute drive apart.

The Zip World experience mimics the flight of the Peregrine Falcon, which is native to the area – and there’s the chance to spot one of the rate birds while flying down the wire.

At the new Zip World Titan visitors take a mini bus ride to heights of 1500ft before flying down a series of three wires.

Llechwedd is an area steeped in Welsh mining history and zip liners on the new lines will get kitted up at the underground Slate Caverns which offer fascinating tours 500ft.

Owner Sean Taylor said: “We’ve been bowled over by people coming since we opened last year. We’ve had everyone from eight-year-olds to a 94-year-old come and ride.”

The new attraction opens on June 4 and tickets cost £50
