This will probably come as no surprise but people in the south of England spend more on luxury holidays than those elsewhere in the country.
The figures from one of the country’s luxury tour operators, Destinology, rank holiday spend by postcode over the last two years with Belgravia in London coming out on top in the spend-per-head count and Sevenoaks in Kent having the highest total booking spend.
Destinology, which sells more than £50million worth of luxury holidays every year, has released the figures at it reaches its tenth anniversary this year. They show that those in Belgravia spend an average £3,345 per person, followed by Bishops Waltham in Hampshire at £2,650 and Sevenoaks in Kent at £2,626. Southport & Ainsdale is the only entry for the north of England, coming in at number seven, with an average spend per head of £2,309.
The total holiday booking spend figures show Sevenoaks leading the table at an average £8,572 per booking, beating Belgravia into second place and Harpenden in Herefordshire into third.
The postcode spending the most on holidays in total covers Fulham and Parsons Green – one of London’s richest areas – whose inhabitants booked a total of £914,042 worth of luxury holidays with Destinology over the last two years. Five of the top six postcodes spending the most in total were London SW postcodes, with Wandsworth, Battersea, Wimbledon and Putney all featuring.
Ranking the top selling destinations over the same period, Dubai came out the clear leader, popular for luxury short breaks, as well as family holidays to resorts such as Atlantis, The Palm (above), followed by honeymoon hotspots Maldives, Mauritius, St Lucia and Barbados.
