If you’re a fan of famed children’s book Swallows and Amazons, you can stay in author Arthur Ransome’s home.
The smartly furnished 17th century cottage for four in the Lake District, has been reduced to £447 for a week’s stay from February 22 down to £447; it’s also available from March 1 and 8 at £495.
Set in glorious countryside at the southern tip of Windermere with panoramic views all around, the house was said to be the author’s favourite home.
It features old beams and a living room with floor-to-ceiling glass to admire the view; there’s also a games room with snooker table and table tennis in the separate Pavilion accessed from the patio.
