Oooh he loves a good waltz. Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke took time off from rehearsals to launch Eurowings’ new flight from Stansted to Vienna.

The popular dancer touched down at the airport to teach passengers the Viennese Waltz to celebrate the airline’s new six-times-a-week service to the Austrian capital.

Among Anton’s dance students for the day was Stansted MD Andrew Harrison, who said: “We’re delighted Anton agreed to join us to celebrate the launch of Eurowings’ new route. The Austrian capital is yet another exciting addition to London Stansted’s extensive route network which already serves more scheduled destinations in Europe than any other UK airport.

“The new six-times a week service gives passengers even more choice this winter, appealing to UK travellers eager to explore one of Europe’s most beautiful cities as well as providing an affordable and convenient gateway to London and the East of England for visitors arriving from Austria.

“London Stansted is the UK’s fastest growing airport serving more than 22 million passengers a year.”

Anton is partnering TV presenter Katie Derham in this year’s Strictly and he says they has an “instant chemistry”.

Oliver Wagner, Chief Commercial Officer of Eurowings, said: “We’re delighted with the colourful and warm welcome here at London Stansted Airport.”

Stansted has launched a number of new routes this winter including services to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik with easyJet and Gothenburg with Scandinavian flag carrier, SAS.

The new Eurowings flights – the latest of 170 scheduled destinations in Europe – will depart from the airport’s refurbished Satellite One departure area. This £8 million project forms part of the airport’s wider £260 million investment programme to improve airport facilities and services for passengers and airlines.
