The Tour of Britain starts in September and you can take a cycling holiday on some of the route.
This year sees the Tour – which has featured stars like Mark Cavendish (above) in the past – have its first ever summit finish on Haytor in the heart of Dartmoor. The Stage 6 finish is on Friday September 20.
If you’d like to replicate the route of the starts, HF Holidays has a tour of the area based at Moorlands Country House on Dartmoor.
Guests use the country house as a hotel – with full board and use of all facilities – and have the flexibility to make their own plans to go out and discover Dartmoor and South Devon. In addition – as part of its facilities – Moorlands offers secure bike storage and bike wash facilities.
As an example of the range of cycling options available, the Granite Way is a mainly traffic-free cycle route that runs through Dartmoor National Park following the disused railway line from Okehampton to Lydford, plus there is a large network of ancient lanes and two traffic free cycle ways around Totnes and the Dart Valley.
Freedom breaks cost from £210 per person for three nights.
