Thomas Land back on track

Drayton Manor

Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends are steaming into Drayton Manor Theme Park for half-term. The train ride is among a number of attractions opening at the park, near Tamworth in Staffordshire, between February 15 and 24.

They include Thomas Land, the 15-acre zoo, Ben 10: Ultimate Mission rollercoaster and the 4D Cinema, which will be showing The Little Prince. Thomas Land is home to many rides and attractions based on loveable Thomas & Friends characters, including Rosie (above with the Fat Controller) Cranky the Crane and Harold the Helicopter. There’s also indoor and outdoor play areas, a café and shop.

The Ben 10: Ultimate Mission rollercoaster, based on the popular Ben 10 TV series produced by Cartoon Network, launches riders forwards on their first tour of the 180 metre track, hitting speeds of 55kph and a g-force of 3, before returning travelling backwards.

The zoo has more than 100 animal species from around the world, including big cats, monkeys and primates, as well as penguins and various reptiles. Also open will be the Carousel, as well as the all-year-round Grill Inn restaurant.

Adults £15, children £10 and under 4s free when you book tickets on www.draytonmanor.co.uk and family rooms at Drayton Manor Hotel from £80 a night.
