Tickets on sale for Eurostar service from London to Amsterdam

Tickets are now on sale for Eurostar’s service to Amsterdam with one-way fares from £35.

The first train left London’s St Pancras this morning to showcase the service which launches to the public on April 4.

It took just three hours and 41 minutes, stopping at Brussels (after 108 minutes) and Rotterdam before arriving in Amsterdam.

Departures will be at 8.31am from London daily except Sundays and at 5.31pm except Saturdays.

A fantastic service going from London but coming back, it is not as easy. Passengers have to take a Thalys high-speed train from Amsterdam to Brussels and then get onto Eurostar because border controls have not been finalised. Passports can’t yet be checked by British officials at Amsterdam so have to be checked in Brussels, something which hopefully will be sorted out next year.

Eurostar boss Nicolas Petrovic said: “Today’s inaugural service heralds an exciting new chapter in the expansion of high speed rail, strengthening the trading and tourism links between the UK and mainland Europe.

“With just six weeks to go until the start of service we are looking forward to providing customers with a fast, comfortable connection from London to Amsterdam and transforming travel between these important capital cities.”
