With just 255 days to go until Le Grand Départ 2014, the official Tour de France in England route is announced today.
The Tour De France will start in Harrogate on July 5, 2014 and millions of cycling fans are expected to land in and around Yorkshire to see the start.
The routes will take the cyclists through some of England’s historic cities, including the Roman walled city of York, the country’s second biggest financial centre Leeds, the cathedral city of Ripon, Steel City Sheffield and the spa town of Harrogate.
And for those looking to book somewhere to stay – tour organisers say spectators may have to travel more than 80miles to the route – hotel group Best Western claims to have more available rooms along the routes than any other hotel group.
The company has 38 hotels within a five mile radius of the combined three UK stages – Leeds to Harrogate, York to Sheffield and Cambridge to London – offering over 2,484 rooms.
The company’s Richard Lewis says: “We have always been competitively priced and Le Tour is no different. We are offering rooms at an average of £100 per night with prices as low as £57 at some of our Bradford hotels.”
