Travelodge gets ‘Rolls-Royce of beds’

New luxury rooms and the “Rolls-Royce of beds” are coming to Travelodge as the budget hotel group spends £223 million this year. They are also opening 14 new hotels including two in Spain, creating 420 new jobs.

Grant Hearn, Travelodge CEO said: “This capital expenditure will help us to grow our business, strengthen our product offering and make Travelodge the best value hotel chain in the UK. We have worked with our customers to create a new Travelodge room which offers more comfort, quality and style. The hero of our new room is a luxurious bed that is normally found in high end hotels.”

Thirty thousand new king-size beds, each with an 800 pocket-sprung mattress, are part of the £57 million refurbishment of their 500 plus hotels. New UK hotels include four in London (Bethnal Green, Hounslow, Vauxhall and Walthamstow), Liverpool, Cambridge, Aylesbury, Southport, Kings Lynn, Sittingbourne, Manchester and Chertsey.

The new Spanish hotels are in the fashionable beach area Poblenoul inBarcelona, opening in Spring, and in Madrid, opening in the summer. This will boost their hotels in Spain to six, three in Madrid, two in Barcelona and one in Valencia.
