TripAdvisor loses ‘most popular’ crown to hotel.info

Hotel.info

Hotel.info has won the “Most Popular” Website of the Year award, beating TripAdvisor into second place.

The booking engine picked up the most popular site in the Leisure & Travel category at the Website of the Year awards (websiteoftheyear.co.uk), which is run by market research agency MetrixLab and Emerce and chosen by the public in an online vote.

The site, which lists more than 250,000 hotels worldwide in over 19,000 locations, beat TripAdvisor, which has scooped the award for the past two years. But the review site can take consolation in beating British Airways to the “Best Website” award.

Hotel.info’s Andreas Klug said: “Trusted by business customers for many years the award shows that we offer all hotel customers ideal solutions and the best user experience with our new product features like the iPhone app for iOS 7, hotel.info DEALS and our unique exploratory search.

“hotel.info is very proud to receive the award for the ‘most popular’ website of the year in the Leisure & Travel category, especially because this is the opinion of internet users throughout all customer groups.”

The award night at The Brewery in London saw 238 websites nominated across 20 categories, with more than 88,600 votes cast between September 23 and November 1.
