Vow to take more 2015 holidays

Almost four in ten of us are planning to take more 2015 holidays, according to a new survey.

The poll of 1,000 people by the Adventure Travel Conference that starts this week showed that 37 per cent of us intend to take more holidays and 43 per cent of us will spend more on holidays this year.

According to the poll, dream destinations for 2015 were:

Antarctica (above)
New Zealand
Australia
Japan
Galapagos
Bhutan
South America
Peru
USA
Chile

Although those questioned deemed themselves adventure travellers, adrenalin was not as high on their list as you might expect.

Short breaks and city breaks proved extremely popular, with culture and history being the biggest draws on longer trips, followed by wildlife and nature, and then walking and trekking.

However, winter activities such as Northern Lights watching and husky sledding is on 2015’s travel plans for 20% of this year’s respondents.

The full results of the poll will be released at the show on Friday.
