Walk this way for Bank Holiday breaks

moorlands

Looking for something to do over the early May Bank Holiday? Walking specialists HF Holidays are suggesting a number of breaks in the Great British countryside.

Explore the wild beauty, rolling hills and high moorland of the Dartmoor National Park, for example, on a guided walking break starting May 4 – featuring a choice of up to three walks each day – with highlights including Haytor Rocks, High Willhays and Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

A four-night break costs £479, while seven nights cost £699 – both inclusive of full-board at Moorlands Country House (above) – set within eight acres of grounds below Haytor Rocks.

Also starting May 4 are guided walking holidays taking in the coastal and moorland scenery of Exmoor National Park with highlights including the wooded gorges around Watersmeet, Dunkery Beacon – the highest point in Exmoor – and the South West Coast Path to Lynmouth.

Based at Holnicote Country House – situated in the heart of a 12,500 acre estate – four nights cost £489 and seven nights are £725 inclusive of full board, the full programme of guided walks and social activities and transport to/from the walks.

There is also a seven-night Circle Dancing & Walking holiday starting on May 4 which is also based at Holnicote House.  Guests can enjoy fun and relaxed dance sessions – celebrating the seasons of the year and the cycles of life with circle dances from around the world.

Dance sessions take place in the mornings, with social dancing after dinner each evening and optional guided walks in the afternoons.  The cost is £745 inclusive of full board, tuition from a knowledgeable leader and the guided afternoon walks.
