Walking on water!

If you like walking and cruising, these holidays are for you. Walking holiday specialist Ramblers has launched new river cruise holidays where you sail into Europe’s cities and villages and then explore them on foot.

Don’t worry if you are not a serious walker, the emphasis is on casual strolls. There’s a choice of three seven-night cruises along the Rhine, Danube (above) and the Rhone. They are all part of the new Adagio programme of more gentle, walking holidays. You’ll sail on board five-star river cruisers from the award-winning AmaWaterways’ fleet, including the new AmaCerto, the most advanced river cruiser of its type.

At each daily port, you’ll have the chance to see the capitals, villages and countryside with a Ramblers specialist. Excursions include strolls through the Alpilles hills in Provence, a walking tour of Austria’s capital, Vienna (above) and along the River Vils to Schweiklberg Monastery.

Prices from £1,899 per person, based on two sharing, including return UK flights, transfers, an experienced UK host, walks and excursions, while the cruise includes all meals, free wine and beer with dinner, wi-fi, and use of on bikes.
