Welcome to the Hotel VW California

Hotel VW California

Volkswagen has gone from van maker to holidaymaker. The car manufacturer has teamed up with LateRooms.com to launch the pop-up Hotel VW California.

The hotel, which launches in Henley this weekend and consists of six Volkswagen California SE camper vans made available for booking as ‘rooms’, gives the first ever chance to sleep on  Temple Island on The Thames.

Prices in the campers start from £35 a night with proceeds going to charity. The hotel will move around the UK over the summer.

Each Volkswagen California can sleep four adults – they feature pop-up roofs, kitchens with fridges, twin-burner cookers and sinks with running water, plus wood-trimmed cupboards and drawers. An awning plus table and two chairs also allow guests to sit out in comfort and enjoy the riverside views.

Rooms also include free wifi, iPod docking, automatic air-conditioning, heated seats and programmable central heating.

Nicola Burnside from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: ‘Private island retreats are the epitome of luxury accommodation.  Hotel VW California provides a truly unique experience with all of the luxury and none of the expense.”

Martin Solly from LateRooms.com, added: “Be it cosy B&Bs or luxury spas, Thai beach huts or English country houses we’re very proud to offer a supremely diverse range of hotels and it doesn’t get much more unique than Hotel VW California.”

Hotel VW California can be booked from today for a limited time before it moves to other scenic spots around the UK. See LateRooms.com to book.
