Welsh hotel wins Pride of Britain award

A Welsh hotel – The Grove in Narbeth – has been named Pride of Britain Hotel of the Year 2015 for its outstanding hospitality.

The Grove, set in 26 acres overlooking the Preseli Mountains in Pembrokeshire, has been restored and is pretty luxurious. There are 20 rooms and four cottages with cast iron baths, Noble Isle bath goodies, underfloor heating and beautiful local artwork.

The restaurant boasts three AA Rosettes and specialises in locally-sourced modern British cuisine – the 17th century walled kitchen garden is stocked with over 70 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs. And if you want a good wine, this is the place to come. The hotel holds the AA Wine Award for Wales.

New for 2015 are two-day Yoga Retreats (10-11 May and 6-7 September) and the hotel can also arrange spa treatments.

Walks from the hotel include a stroll to a deserted Welsh chapel, an ancient hilltop settlement and through Canaston Woods. The market town of Narberth has boutiques, bookshops, quirky cafés and a museum. Pembrokeshire and its white-sand beaches are perfect for surfing, coasteering and horse-riding.
