Adventure travel company Lost Earth Adventures has launched two Yorkshire Dales activity weekends.

The weekends – that will run in the Dales in May and August next year and are aimed at groups of friends, families with children aged seven or over, couples or singles – consist of three days including hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and caving.

The first day (Saturday) consists of an 11-mile hike in Wainwright’s Limestone Country, taking in Ingleborough Cave, Trow Gill, Gaping Gill the summit plateau of Ingleborough, Sulber Nick and the limestone outcrops of Moughton Scar.

On day two (Sunday) it’s biking the classic Settle Loop. The route begins with an ascent on quiet tarmacked road, winding its way high above the bustling town of Settle and into the heart of Dales country.

The route follows the National Pennine Bridleway; passing by ancient dry stonewalls on a variety of different terrain, including limestone, grassland and stony track. There’s a challenging rocky ascent up Stockdale Lane, followed by a flowing track back down to Settle.

The, in the afternoon it’s off to Yorkshire’s best climbing venues, Twistleton Scar for some abseiling.

On the final day (Monday) there’s caving with lots of underground options in the area, from the intricate passageways of Long Churn Cave to the tunnels of Great Douk Cavern. Guests will have to navigate tight squeezes, small pools and chutes and an array of stalagmites and stalactites

Accommodation each night is at the Station Inn, a quaint stone bunkhouse, situated underneath the grand Ribblehead Viaduct (above), with views across the Dales. The pub next door happens to have the best pies in Yorkshire and a good selection of local ales are also available.

Prices start from £249 per person, including 3 nights’ B&B, two packed lunches and one pub dinner. The weekends are on May 27 and August 26.
