BA flies Gangnam Style

As Gangnam Style becomes the most watched YouTube video of all time, BA launches flights to the South Korean city where the phenomenon began – Seoul.

Pop star Psy’s dance track, which pokes fun at the wealthy in the affluent Seoul suburb of Gangnam, has overtaken Justin Bieber’s 2010 hit Baby to clinch the website’s No1 spot after racking up over 808 million views since July.

The single, which has topped the charts in 28 countries, has boosted tourism to South Korea and visitor numbers will be even greater with BA’s six flights a week from Heathrow to Seoul starting on Sunday, December 2.

BA CEO Keith Williams said: “When we decided to launch Seoul, we were basing it on the strong demand from business travellers in both directions given the city’s strong economic base. That demand remains, but we couldn’t have foreseen the enormous response to the current Gangnam Style phenomenon when we announced the route. It is really helping to put Seoul on the map for UK travellers looking for an exciting and fun destination.”

Return fares start from £650 for a World Traveller seat, £999 for World Traveller Plus, £2,596 in Club World and £5,772 for First class.

BA also offers rooms at the three-star Novotel Seoul Ambassador Doksan from £94 a night, the four-star Hyatt Regency Incheon from £143 per night and the five-star InterContinental Seoul Coex from £183 per night.
