BA pilot flying high as author of kids’ books

BA pilot

BA pilot Rob Johnson has written a series of children’s books about the thrill of flying around the world.

The Amazing Adventures of Pilot Ollie and Pilot Polly – published in a handy A5 size so they easily fit into a child’s backpack or other hand-baggage – can be ordered from July 1 on Amazon, costing £4.95 each or £14.50 for all three.

Captain Rob, 43,  of Piltdown village in Sussex, came up with the idea after seeing how his sons – Alfie, six, and five-year-old Woody – loved to hear about his global travels and experiences.

The books, aimed at three to eight-year-olds, feature pilots Polly and Ollie (above) who fly to a different destination in each story – with the first one set in Rome followed by Madrid.

Rob says:  “I love flying and feel so lucky to be able to travel and see the world that I wanted to share this with as many people as possible. My little ones really enjoyed learning about the different places I`d been, so I thought why not create some stories to share with others too?

“I hope kids of all ages will enjoy these books and hopefully it may even inspire some young girls and boys to consider becoming a pilot when they grow up.”

Rob flies BA’s Airbus 320 to UK and European destinations including Rome (from £96 return) and Madrid (from £84 return). See ba.com
