Bonfire night with a bang

Remember, remember the fifth of November… well you certainly will with a stay at the Langdale Hotel & Spa in the Lake District.

On the site of a former 19th century  gunpowder works, the hotel is an ideal spot to explore some unique heritage, as well as enjoying a firework display, bonfire and traditional hog roast on the 35 acre estate in the beautiful Langdale Valley.

Visitors staying at the luxury hotel during the week November 2-6 will have the chance to dine at the rustic Wainwright’s Inn, which will be hosting its famous firework display on November 5, complete with a hog roast and huge bonfire. Guests can choose to eat inside or dine al fresco.

As part of the package guests can also enjoy a ‘Gunpowder Walk’ which explores the site’s many remaining blast walls, wheels and machinery, and gives a truly unique insight into the Langdale estate’s history and heritage. The Langdale Estate was opened as a Gunpowder Works in the early 1800s, with gunpowder being manufactured there well into the 1920s.

Visitors wanting to explore the spectacular Langdale Valley further can also use the free LangdALE Trail mobile phone app to guide them to their choice of the valley’s eight pubs – and sample a variety of local ales – en route.

The breaks cost from £99 per room per night based on two people sharing a double room on a B&B basis.
