Temperatures are set to plummet again this week but for all those who can’t wait to escape to the sun, the perfect holiday temperature for Brits on holidays has been revealed.

Online travel agent On The Beach surveyed more than 1,500 holidaymakers to see what their ideal temperature would be for a beach holiday and found that it would be 28.8 Celsius.

Of those surveyed, 49 per cent felt 28- 30 degrees Celsius would be the temperature they dream of, while 25 per cent  would be satisfied with 24 – 26 degrees.

According to Met Office data the average temperature in the UK during the summer is 19 degrees. But with 30 per cent of people feeling 20 degrees would be a disappointing temperature for a holiday, it’s no wonder that 51 per cent of us choose to holiday abroad for the warmer climates, compared to 30 per cent who choose to go abroad to experience different cultures.

To find the perfect temperature all year round holiday makers would need to travel to exotic destinations, such as the Caribbean, where the average annual temperature is 28 degrees.

Alistair Daly of On the Beach said: “Our research has found the perfect temperature for UK holidaymakers is 28.8 degrees, which is why the combination of poor weather conditions at the start of 2014 and increased confidence in the economy, is resulting in people in the UK being determined to enjoy a beach holiday abroad this year.”
