Carnival turns Liverpool into Liver-ghoul

Liverpool

Sefton Park in Liverpool will once again play host to ghouls, magic and mayhem with the superb Halloween Lantern Carnival on November 1.

The Lantern Company promises that the carnival will be bigger and better than ever. One feature will be the parade where the lanterns will form a moving river of light.

Artistic director Jo Pocock said: “It has been a momentous 12 months for the Lantern Company, with our first commission overseas for the Hong Kong Youth Foundation, as well as returning to old haunts and creating brand-new events all around the UK.

“But the Halloween Lantern Carnival will always be our favourite event. The city and its people are integral to what we do and has shaped our work in a unique way,  bringing heart and soul to the Lantern Carnival. With the continuous backing of Liverpool City Council, Arts Council England and many other supporters who believe in superb cultural events for all, we hope to keep providing Liverpool with great events for many years to come.”

Liverpool City Council’s Councillor Wendy Simon, said: “The Halloween Lantern Carnival is a hugely popular event in our cultural calendar. Thousands head to Sefton Park every year to take in the stunning displays which members of the community have spent hours carefully crafting, giving the park a suitably eerie glow! I’m sure we’re in for another spooky treat this year.”
