Dinosaurs Unleashed at the Eden Project

Dinosaurs Unleashed

Head to Cornwall’s Eden Project this summer and you’ll be heading back 67 million years – the eco-park has launched a new attraction, Dinosaurs Unleashed.

The show, which runs from July 21 will allow visitors to track down clues and discover things about the giant beasts that used to rule the planet.

In The Crater of the Tyrant King, they will be able to step boldly into an ancient landscape of raw earth, rocks, roots, ferns, dripping mosses and giant redwood trees – the habitat of the frog, snake and giant centipede. While there, there’s the chance to have an encounter with a Tyrannosaurus rex, as it devours its Triceratops prey.

The Dig Pit will provide adventure of a different kind as visitors burrow down to discover a fossilised Stegosaurus skeleton and see how palaeontologists first found and pieced together the giants of the past.

First base for all explorers will be Basecamp where they will learn what they need to complete their quest around the Eden site.

At the Explorer Field Stations they will find out all about explorers from the past and find out why they made history.

The centre of the attraction will be the Dinosaur Exhibition in the Core which will have a collection of dinosaur fossils including real dinosaur eggs, a fossilised brain, a whole skeleton and a real T-rex tooth.

Dr Jo Elworthy, Eden’s Director of Interpretation, said: “Dinosaurs Unleashed will be the biggest, most compelling summer activity Eden has ever staged.

“As well as immersing you into the Cretaceous world to give you an amazing close encounter with some incredibly realistic dinosaurs, you can become a dino detective and learn how scientists worked out how these incredible animals looked, what they ate, where and when they lived, how they moved and even how they smelt and saw.

“As a living reminder of the lost world of dinosaurs, you will be able to meet some of the plants that were around then and are still surviving and thriving with us today.”
