Dive in to the World Bog Snorkelling Championships

World Bog Snorkelling Championships 2

Looking for something to do over the August Bank Holiday? How about diving into a bog?

The World Bog Snorkelling Championships take place in Llanwrtyd Wells, Mid Wales from August 25-28 and competitors traverse a water filled trench cut through a peatbog in the shortest possible time.

Competitors must wear snorkels and flippers and are not allowed to use conventional swimming strokes, with flippers being the only method of propulsion. The 60yard trench has to be traversed twice with the current World Champion being Richard Addis who won last year with a time of 1 minute 26.5 seconds.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay for the championships, Quality Cottages is offering Epynt View – a barn that has been converted into a spacious and stylish holiday home which sleeps 10 in five bedrooms.

Seven nights’ self-catering costs from £1,095 per week for arrivals on August 24.
