Eurostar is launching a new service from London St Pancras to Aix-en-Provence. The high-speed train taking six hours 15 minutes will run from May 4 to June 29 next year, as a follow-on from the successful London-Avignon link.
Aix-en-Provence is known as the “City of the Good King René” and the Aix countryside is stunning. Culture will have pride of place in Provence in 2013, so don’t miss a visit to the “Grand Atelier du Midi: From Cézanne to Matisse” exhibition from June 13 at Aix’s Musée Granet, before heading off to admire “From Van Gogh to Bonnard” at Marseille’s Musée des Beaux-Arts.
